Art for the Earth in Phoenix was a blast! We had a great turnout (approx 3,000 people), and received some really awesome comments and feedback on the exhibit. Basically, people LOVED it. Many people came back 2 or 3 times as they went back and forth to the different galleries that participated in the Art Walk.

Friday night was the best night for turnout. We were setup at an outdoor venue called Canvas, and they had rock bands on all night long. There was a line down the street just to get in. The music was great, conversations excellent, and the looks on peoples faces as they took in the art was priceless. We even had a pair of Phoenix’s finest stop by and take it in.

Saturday had less people, but more of the right crowd. The Saturday show goers were more into the art than the music, and it proved to be our best day for sales. On Sunday, when we got there, no other galleries were open, and no street vendors were setting up. We decided to start packing the truck and see if other places opened or not. By 1 pm, only two galleries were open, and we saw maybe 10 people walking around, so we continued to pack.

Overall, we sold three framed prints, three mounted prints and about 20 shirts, and were able to raise over $1000 for charity. It was much less than we anticipated, but there were many small variables that contributed to the low turnout. However, I think we can still call it a success. The artists got some great exposure, as did Toyota, and it was a fun-filled two days.

Nate was able to get the shirts up for sale here (www.artfortheearth.org/store.html), so please check those out. We are also going to have another Art for the Earth event here in Flagstaff next month. I am going to visit local papers and art publications to see if they will write a story and help promote us for the Flagstaff event. More info on this to come.

We will sell everything and end up with a large donation from this project, but its just going to take a little more time. We will keep you up to date with the event in Flagstaff and the progression of the project. Hope you are all doing well, and please write (artfortheearth@gmail.com) with any questions or suggestions.

If you would like to view pictures from the event, please visit www.artfortheearth.org/PHX/
